Wall Street/Grand Avenue - Student Apartment Complex

Southern Illinois University

Carbondale, Illinois

The 147,000-gross-square-foot complex was built at the northwest corner of Wall Street and Grand Avenue, and was the first new housing construction project on the SIUC campus in 36 years. The new facility provides apartment-style living quarters to 400 on-campus student residents in response to what students say they wanted in their living spaces. The facility consists of 100 apartment units that house sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students.

Each apartment has 1,000 to 1,380 square feet and houses four students in either two- or four-bedroom units.  Each unit includes a living room, bathroom, and fully functional kitchen. The complex is part of SIUC Housing’s 15-year plan to add 1,765 beds.
