Union South Redevelopment Commissioning Services

University of Wisconsin

Madison, Wisconsin

The design of a new 231,000-square-foot South Campus Union included a 180 to 200-stall underground parking ramp, technology-equipped meeting rooms, improved recreational facilities, 350-seat auditorium, 1,000-seat banquet hall, lounge space, expanded food services, expanded retail space, and 60 hotel guest rooms. Design and construction included sustainable elements with the goal of becoming certified by the LEED Green Building Rating System. The existing Union South, Hi-Ray Hall, and Randall Towers were all razed to accommodate a new student union, transportation hub for buses, commuter rail stop, and bike station.

Henneman provided enhanced commissioning services independent of the design team and reported directly to the Wisconsin Department of State Facilities. Our services included measurement and verification to meet owner’s goal and LEED CA Credit 5.
