The Turner Hall Crop Sciences and Soils Lab Remodel consists of the demolition of existing spaces and the development of new state of the art instructional laboratories and classrooms.
Highlights of the Soils Laboratory:
The new soils laboratory will include instructional area with modular furniture, flexible seating, an instrumentation space and a preparation facility. Features include:
- Electronic displays showing real-time soil environmental conditions
- Soil profile display chamber to monitor dynamic soil properties
- Flexible seating and lab work surfaces to enhance learning of diverse skills
- Improved safety features, including a shower, eye-wash stations, a bio-safety cabinet and an upgraded fume hood and sprinkler system.
Highlights of the Crops Laboratory:
The new crops lab includes a microscopy laboratory, an instrumentation/research space and a pre/storage facility. Features include:
- Modular lab furniture whose flexibility will enable the best learning configuration for each situation
- Discussion areas for small groups
- See sample wall boxes
- Integration of computer interfaces for interactive learning
- Flexible demonstration and experimentation learning centers
The project will also address infrastructure needs including HVAC and control upgrades, fire suppression, and life safety improvements. Henneman Engineering is responsible for complete mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and information technology including IT and AV design services.
