Description: The Industrial Technology Group (ITG) at Henneman Engineering currently has a position opportunity for an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Intern in our Champaign, IL office. This person will be responsible for assisting the Engineers they work with in: AutoCAD, construction drawings, inputting data into analysis software, data analysis of electrical or mechanical systems, and compiling reports for various clients in industries such as Manufacturing, Food, Chemical Processing, Consumer Products, Pharmaceutical, Power Generation, and Renewable Energy.
Primary Responsibilities:
Areas of focus may include, but are not limited to:
- AutoCAD
- Electrical Systems Modeling: Arc Flash, Short Circuit & Coordination Studies
- Automation and Control Systems, PLC/HMI
- Lighting Systems
- Candidates must be willing to take on various responsibilities such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Perform work as an engineering intern participating in many aspects of industrial project development including pre-design services, final design services, meetings, and site visits.
- Update and prepare electrical schematics, layouts, sections, elevations, details, technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates as directed by the engineer.
- Research available equipment and help specify equipment based on project needs, budget, and available technologies.
- Work with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and controls to resolve a variety of complex problems.
Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Education: Pursuing bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical engineering or related discipline.
Experience: ITG is open to considering a diverse range of experience and skill levels. Experience with AutoCAD and SKM / ETAP (or other power systems analysis software) is desirable.
Compensation: Hourly rate commensurate with skills and experience; 40 hours per week.
