Energy Modeling
Henneman Engineering delivers state-of-the-art energy modeling capabilities to achieve commercial and technical differentiation. We provide specialized modeling services using some of the world’s best building modeling software. Our capabilities enable us to work on design projects that complement and accommodate energy efficiency and sustainable design. We integrate modeling techniques to analyze sustainability of buildings in adherence to building standards such as ASHRAE, LEED, etc.
Energy Modeling Design Support
This service is ideal for organizations that prefer not to undertake modeling, or those that need support with particular complex projects. It is ideal for those organizations that are limited by cost and time inhibitions. Henneman Engineering can work on any modeling project from conception through to implementation or certification, or work on a specific parts of the project. Our expertise is in the following areas: dynamic thermal and bulk airflow; HVAC plant and controls; Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD); Solar Shading; and Day and Artificial Lighting. A selection of our capabilities:
We can quantify passive system design techniques, such as radiant floors, and exposed thermal mass can be used to improve:
- Cooling loads
- Energy Policy Act (2005) + LEED energy credits
- Carbon usage
- Occupant comfort
We model ventilation, under floor air distribution, or mixed-mode HVAC strategies may improve the same elements mentioned above.
We model and analyze daylighting to improve and design for:
- Cooling load impacts
- Higher goals of LEED certification rating (i.e., Silver, Gold, or Platinum)
- Visual discomfort impacts on the work environment
We can analyze how to reduce incidental light that may:
- Decrease your daylighting level
- Reduce the building’s LEED daylighting credit
- Cause visual discomfort in the work environment
