Hammond Courthouse
Hammond, Indiana
Henneman Engineering provided the design for the fire alarm/smoke purge at the federal courthouse in Hammond, Indiana.
Henneman removed the smoke exhaust system from the building automation system (BAS) and provided operation from the fire alarm system. A signal was provided from the fire alarm control panel (FACP) on the second floor to six damper locations and two smoke exhaust fan starter locations on the fifth floor.
In addition, Henneman provided a new dedicated panel to house a new terminal block and a contactor at each of the six locations for damper actuators. Henneman disconnected damper actuator wiring from the temperature control panel and connected wiring to the six new panels.
Henneman provided 24V power to the six locations and then programmed the fire alarm control panel to provide a new signal and sequence for smoke control.
