Champaign Fire Department
Champaign, Illinois
With the ongoing residential growth in southwest Champaign, the Champaign Fire Department recommended establishing a 6th fire station near the intersection of Staley and Windsor roads.
Henneman Engineering was selected to provide design services for the project. The proposed design includes three drive-thru apparatus bays accommodating five vehicles, a community meeting/training room, sleeping quarters for eight, kitchen and dining facilities, equipment storage, and office space including a separate office for Champaign Police Department. In addition, a 4,700-square-foot basement included a storm shelter, fitness room, provisions for a future emergency operations center and dispatch center to METCAD.
Henneman was responsible for all architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing design.
