Galesburg Amtrak
Galesburg, Illinois
The City of Galesburg identified the need for additional maintenance and storage capacity for both city vehicles and the “Handivan” program. The “Handivan” program is a curbside transportation system operated by the City of Galesburg to provide accessible public transportation to individuals who are unable to utilize the bus system or other regular forms of transportation because of a permanent or temporary disability which severely restricts his/her mobility. The facility is approximately 21,000 square feet and includes provisions for storage and maintenance of city vehicles as well as Administrative Offices for the Galesburg Transit Department.
The Galesburg Amtrak Station was also renovated and an 800-square-foot addition to the waiting area was provided.
Henneman Engineering provided the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection design services for both projects.
The energy efficient design features for both projects include:
- HVAC Systems including energy recovery where applicable.
- Lighting Systems including control systems for ease of operation and maintenance.
- Plumbing Systems that minimize water usage while maintaining a high standard of operability.
- Identification of any applicable rebate or grant programs to help defray portions of the construction costs.
