Henneman Engineering provided the following scope of work:
- Evaluated existing and future cooling loads and developed a plan to replace the existing HVAC equipment that provides reliability and flexibility for future cooling loads as predicted by ISU.
- The project included both infrastructure design of equipment and systems to support the installation of server cabinets as well as long-term planning for the remainder of the room (print and main frame area).
- Infrastructure to support server cabinets build-out included new cooling units, chilled water source, and a new UPS systems. This phase included removal of the windows on the south wall, replacement of the ceiling and lighting, and demolition of the air handling unit, reciprocating chiller, and Chloride UPS system.
- The long-term planning included concepts to build-out the west half of the data room. This involved evaluation of the electrical service and generator capacity, floor replacement, cooling capacity, and fire protection schemes.
