Illinois Wesleyan University, Residence Halls

Henneman provided the mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and fire alarm design engineering for a phased sprinkler/fire alarm retrofit project at several existing residence halls. The residence halls were built in the 1920s and featured historic architectural features such as crown moldings and coffered ceilings. The sprinkler design required skill and sensitivity in working within architecturally significant features.
The project involved the design of wet pip sprinkler and fire alarm systems for full building coverage and code compliance. The projects were phased one residence hall per year with the construction occurring during the summer break.
